All overseas trained Dentists are assessed by ADC i.e. Australian Dental Council which accredits many dental schools. After assessment, dentists are allowed to obtain registration in Australia. From application to verification of dental qualification for migration purpose, ADC assesses all the activities for dentists.
There is a complete pathway to work as registered
Healthcare Professional (Dentists). The applicant must follow these steps:
Step 1: Qualify OET
First step is to qualify OET with minimum of B score in
each of the four modules (Reading, Writing, Reading and Speaking).
Step 2: Assessment by ADC
Dentists have to give an examination which has 2 parts:
1. The theoretical exam (Preliminary Exam)
2. Clinical assessment
The written exam consist of multiple type questions and Short Answer Questions where as clinical assessment is sub divided into three blocks
• Clinical Dentistry I
• Clinical Dentistry II
• Clinical Dentistry III
This examination includes all clinical disciplines such as Orthodontics, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and Pharmacology.
The Preliminary written Examination is usually held in the month of March and September in India, Australia and many other countries but the final Examination is held only in Australia, usually twice a year in July and November.
